Church Sexton- Part Time

The Church Sexton will be responsible for performing custodial tasks such as, but not limited to, cleaning the sanctuary, inventory of custodial supplies, maintain landscaping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, stripping and waxing floors, setting up and breaking down rooms, general cleaning, unlock/lock church for and after church programs, minor repairs of equipment and around the facility, emptying barrels & cleaning outside the church.

 

Job Description:

• Maintain cleanliness of the church, surrounding properties and grounds

• Perform a variety of custodial and handy person duties as needed

• Schedule: Tuesday 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm; Wednesday & Thursday, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm (flexible)

• Additional hours during scheduled special events, funerals & weddings

Qualifications:

• Flexible, responsible, and self-motivated.

• Physically mobile; ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

• Experience in landscape maintenance

• Prior maintenance experience

• Possess effective communication skills

• Knowledge of church equipment and building maintenance procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Sweep, mop, wax, buff and scrub floors and stairways; vacuum and clean carpets; clean restrooms; empty and clean waste receptacles.

• Dust, wax, wash and polish furniture and woodwork; wash windows, walls, and blinds; polish metal work, office equipment and other articles.

• Cleans and refills towel racks, paper holders and replenishes rest room supplies such as soap, towels, paper, disinfectants.

• Perform minor building maintenance or repairs. 

• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, church membership and visiting public.

• Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, parking lot, driveways and walkways neat and clean at all times.

• Set up and break down before and after church meetings. 

• Accommodate Weddings and Funerals as needed.

• Clean sanctuary and all public areas prior to use. Including use of fog machine.
